Microlocs

Microlocs in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Fine, lightweight locs installed with clean parts and gentle tension — then kept neat with unhurried reties. Installs and maintenance for women, men and kids.

Why people choose microlocs

Microlocs sit somewhere between sisterlocks and traditional locs: small enough to move and style freely, sturdy enough to carry for years. Because each loc is tiny, the parts almost disappear, so your scalp looks natural whether your hair is up, down, curled or pulled back.

They are also patient work. A full install is a full day in the chair, and we would rather take the time than rush your parts. You will get honest guidance on loc size, on how your hair density will behave, and on the retie rhythm that suits your life.

  • Clean, even parting mapped to your head shape
  • Gentle tension — no pulling at the hairline
  • Wash included with every retie
  • Kids' installs done calmly, with breaks
  • Scalp detox available whenever build-up feels heavy

Microloc questions, answered

What are microlocs?
Microlocs are very small locs — far finer than traditional locs — installed section by section without a crochet-heavy finish. Because each loc is tiny, you keep a soft, natural movement and far more styling freedom than a standard loc set.
How long does a microloc installation take?
A full install is a long, patient session: usually 6 to 10 hours depending on your hair length and density. Children's installs run shorter, around 6 hours, with breaks along the way.
How often do microlocs need a retie?
Most clients come in every 6 to 8 weeks for a retie. A retie takes 2 to 7 hours depending on how many locs you carry, and includes clean parts and comfortable roots.
Are microlocs damaging to my hair?
Installed and maintained at the right tension they are one of the gentlest long-term protective styles. We part carefully, avoid pulling at the hairline, and tell you honestly if your hair needs rest before a retie.
Can I wash my microlocs?
Yes. Washing is encouraged — clean locs mature better. We include a wash with your retie, and a scalp detox is available whenever build-up starts to feel heavy.
